About the Artist

"I enjoy creating images with paint and other materials.  Inspiration comes from all kinds of sources, real and imagined.  I have done paintings, drawings and sculptures all my life, and enjoy the process of infusing the visible with the invisible." - Mary Virginia Hill

Hill earned a M.F.A. in painting and photography, University of Alabama; a B.A. in studio art, Hunter College, City University of New York; and spent two years in the B.F.A. program, Newcomb College, New Orleans.  She grew up in Shreveport and received her earliest training from her mother, artist Jerry Wray. Hill has lived and worked in Shreveport, Louisiana, since 1985.  She have participated in all of the Artport Exhibitions; shown at ArtSpace and at Centenary College (a solo show and juried exhibitions); volunteered at the Red River Revel to facilitate adult art education projects; taught at the Renzi Center; exhibited with Louisiana Artists, Inc., and Hoover Watercolor Society.  Her work is included in several private collections in Shreveport and in Rochester, NY; Birmingham, AL; Saudi Arabia; and Pakistan.
