Artist's Bio

"The informal vocabulary of Stefan's art moves with the exuberance born of his background as a composer-musician. In some works we enter a realm of deep spirituality. Throughout, there is a harmonious dance of color that celebrates both the world around us and the world within us." - The Dialogue, Columbus, OH

Stefan Georg began his art career in the mid-seventies in Dallas where he studied under the tutelage of the widely respected impressionist and teacher Leona McGill at the Dallas Art Institute. In the eighties he moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico and studied the American art movement of the fifties "abstract-expressionism" initiated by artists such as Motherwell, Jackson Pollock, DeKooning and Helen Frankenthaler. In 1992 Georg had the privilege of completing a masters course with Helen Frankenthaler at the Santa Fe Institute of Fine Art. He combines landscapes, characters, western scnes, and abstract ideas to form truly original works of art in his paintings. His work runs rich with spiritual and sexual imagery, captivating seasoned art enthusiasts and casual observers alike. The rare ability to fuse emotional depth with technical expertise sets Georg apart and solidifies his place in today's art world. He has enjoyed success in galleries throughout the western states and Texas, and continues to be sought after by corporate and private collectors world-wide.

"Art is the moment. It changes in every moment and is perfect in every stage of development. When "finished" it continues to change with its surroundings. Art is the momentary expression of the artist's totality." - Stefan Georg
